Important Notes
- Online renewal for driver licenses and ID cards is a service provided by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles through the MyDMV portal. For any questions related to this service, please contact their customer service center at 850-617-2000.
- Online renewals can be done every other renewal period and requires no document submission – you only need your Florida license number and personal information.
Online Renewal Eligibility
To be eligible to use this service you need to meet the following criteria:
- Must be an U.S. Citizen.
- Your credential must be Real ID compliant and it cannot have the word “TEMPORARY” printed on it.
- Cannot hold a commercial driver license.
- Cannot be making changes like name updates or photo changes.

In-Person Driver License and ID Card Renewal

If you are not eligible for MyDMV or prefer to renew in person, visit one of our offices. Bring required documentation if you are not Real ID compliant.
Note for non-immigrants: Your license or ID card expires after one year maximum, even if your immigration status lasts longer. You must renew annually and bring all required documents regardless of Real ID compliance.
What documents do I need to bring?
If you are not Real ID compliant, you will need to bring required documentation showing proof of your primary identification, social security number, and residential address.

Name Change

Important Notes
- All name changes must be completed in person at one of our offices. To start this process you must first update your name with the Federal Social Security Administration in order to have your name updated on a Florida driver license or ID card. Please allow 24 to 48 hours after completing your name change with the Social Security Administration before visiting our offices.
- Florida law requires you to update your name on your driver license or ID card within 30 days of your legal name change.
What documents do I need to bring?
Important: If you were married multiple times, bring the original or certified copy of each court order showing your name changes.

U.S.Citizen
Once your name has been updated with the Social Security Administration, please visit one of our offices with your required documentation. You’ll need to present the original or a certified copy of your marriage certificate(s) or court order(s). Photocopies are not accepted.
Marriage certificates must be recognized by the state of Florida. Generally, marriage certificates issued in Florida or another state in accordance with the respective laws of those states are recognized by the State of Florida. Church-issued marriage certificates are not accepted.

Immigrants
If you legally changed your name by marriage, divorce, or court order, you must present updated USCIS documents showing your current legal name.
If you are not Real ID compliant, you will need to bring required documentation showing proof of your primary identification, social security number, and residential address. See what documents are accepted.
