Why surrender your license plate?
To avoid driver license suspension, you must surrender your license plate when:
- Your insurance is canceled and the vehicle is still registered in your name
- You sell your vehicle and are not transferring the plate to a replacement vehicle
Important Notes:
- If your driver license is pending suspension due to insurance cancellation, an office visit may be required. Contact us for more information.
- When you surrender your plate, you’ll receive a “Surrendered Registration” receipt. Keep this receipt – it exempts you from the $225 initial registration fee when you register a replacement vehicle.
