What is a hazardous waste fee?
Some businesses must pay a Hazardous Waste fee as part of their business tax receipt. This fee supports the Environmental Protection Commission’s (EPC) program to help businesses comply with hazardous waste regulations.
Who pays this fee?
The Environmental Protection Commission (EPC) determines which businesses must pay this fee based on whether they handle hazardous materials.
What counts as hazardous waste?
Materials that are flammable, corrosive, reactive, or toxic, such as:
- Paint thinner and waste paint.
- Cleaning solvents and waste ink.
- Paint booth filters and dry cleaner filters.
- Pesticides and waste antifreeze
If the fee applies to your business, it will be included on your annual business tax receipt notice.
