Florida’s Highest Honor for Organizational Excellence
The Hillsborough County Tax Collector’s Office (HCTC) is proud to be named a recipient of the 2025 Governor’s Sterling Award – Florida’s highest recognition for organizations that demonstrate superior management, outstanding results, and a strong commitment to continuous improvement.
Three Times Recognized
This prestigious honor marks the third time HCTC has received this distinguished recognition. The office first earned the Sterling Award in 2008, becoming the first tax collector in the state and the first government agency in Hillsborough County to do so, followed by the Sterling Sustained Excellence Award in 2011. Receiving this award again in 2025 – 17 years after the first – is a testament to our unwavering commitment to high-performance operations and exceptional public service.
Results That Speak for Themselves
This recognition reflects the dedication of our entire team. In fiscal year 2024 alone, HCTC collected and distributed over $3.5 billion in funding for essential community services, served more than one million in-person customers, and maintained a 94% customer satisfaction rating and a 4.7 Google Review score. These results reflect our core values of doing the right thing, going the extra mile, and working together as #TeamHCTC.
