What are the boat classifications?
Boats in Florida are classified as either commercial or pleasure.
How do I change my boat’s classification?
You will need to visit one of our offices, pay the $6.25 fee and bring the following documents:
- Completed Application to Change Vessel Classification, Form HSMV 87015 (PDF) AND
- Current registration certificate
- Lost your registration? You can complete a certification on Application to Change Vessel Classification, Form HSMV 87015 (PDF) explaining why the original is not available.
What if I’m a non-resident?
If you’re a non-resident changing from pleasure to commercial classification, an additional $50 boat fee is due unless your state has a reciprocal agreement with Florida.
